Vinal's Positive Behavioral Supports Matrix
As part of Vinal’s First Six Weeks and our commitment to clear and consistent behavioral expectations for all our students and staff, we use a positive behavior matrix. The positive behavior matrix sets clear student friendly expectations for all areas outside of the classroom. It also incorporates our C.A.R.E.S. (cooperation, assertive, responsibility, empathy, self-control) acronym which emphasizes key social skills children need to learn and practice if they are to succeed socially and academically. Behavioral expectations must be taught to students. This is done through discussion, interactive modeling, role playing, and the use of reinforcing, reminding, and redirecting teacher language. Our behavior matrix can be accessed here. -
