Policy Manual
Policy Manual of the Norwell School Committee
The Public Schools of Norwell operate according to policies established by the Norwell School Committee. The School Committee, which represents both the state and local community, develops the policies after careful deliberation, and the school administration implements them through specific rules and regulations. The School Committee then evaluates the effects of its policies and makes revisions as necessary.
The Norwell School Committee, beginning in the 2012-2013 school year, undertook the the task of systematically and comprehensively reviewing the Policy Manual. The policies that are available for review in the online database, for the most part, are only those that have been reviewed and adopted as a part of the Policy Manual review currently underway by the Committee.
The Manual is organized into twelve (12) major sections:
A: Foundations and Basic Commitments
B: School Committee Governance and Operations
C: General School Administration
D: Fiscal Management
E: Support Services
F: Facilities Development
G: Personnel
H: Negotiations
I: Instructional Program
J: Students
K: School-Community Relations
L: Education Agency Relations
Policies that are relevant to multiple sections are repeated in each section to which it pertains.
