Kindergarten
Kindergarten Schedules
Norwell Public Schools offers kindergarten at both the William G. Vinal Elementary School and the Grace F. Cole Elementary School. Families can select either a half-day program or the full-day program (tuition based).
Students in the full-day and half-day kindergarten programs complete the same academic program and have the same amount of time for structured and facilitated play and social skill development. Students in the full-day program spend the same amount of time on academics as their half-day peers; the full-day program provides additional time for students to expand upon and extend their learning through choice and exploratory activities.
Full-day kindergarten session Start: 8:55am Dismiss: 3:20pm
Half-day kindergarten session Start: 8:55am Dismiss: 12:30pm
Early release for all kindergarten sessions: 12:20pm
Enrollment
Children who turn 5 before September 1st are eligible to enroll in kindergarten for that year in the Norwell Public Schools. Parents who feel their child would benefit from postponing kindergarten entrance should contact their elementary school’s principal to discuss the kindergarten waiver process. Students whose parents choose to postpone registration until a student is six years old without prior approval of a Kindergarten Entrance Age Waiver will enter into the first grade with his or her chronological peers.
For more information, please see the Norwell Public Schools policy on school entrance age.
