
English Department Curricula Grades 6-8
Norwell Public Schools’ grades 6-8 English curricula follow the standards for English Language Arts content, which includes standards for reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language from the 2017 English Language Arts and Literacy Framework. All courses 6-8 meet or exceed the standards presented in these Frameworks.
The English Department at Norwell Middle School believes, along with the Massachusetts DESE, that students who are ready for College, Careers, and Civic participation should share certain attributes as defined in the Curriculum Frameworks.

Grade 6
Grade 6 English introduces reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language skills through study of a variety of genres, both literary and informational in nature
Grade 7
Grade 7 English develops reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language skills through a study of a variety of genres, both literary and informational in nature.
Grade 8
Grade 8 English refines reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language skills through a study of a variety of genres, both literary and informational.
