Federal Grants/Student Opportunities Act
2024-2025 Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Federal Grants
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) was signed into law in 2015, reauthorizing the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) and replacing the most recent reauthorization of ESEA, the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). The law includes provisions to help ensure improved outcomes for all students receiving elementary and secondary education.
Each spring the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education informs districts if ESSA federal funds will be allocated to their system. These funds are identified as Title I Part A, Title II Part A, Title III, and Title IV Part A. Norwell Public Schools (NPS) engage in a Needs Assessment Procedure when funds are allocated to the district.
