Norwell High School Sailing Club is in its second season as a co-operative Sailing team with Notre Dame Academy. Sailors race in the spring season out of Hull Yacht Club and compete against local high schools including Hingham, Cohasset/Hull, Scituate, Boston Latin, Brookline and East Boston under the Massachusetts Bay League. No previous experience is required; a commitment to learning and attending daily practices and weekly regattas is encouraged. Our club focuses on mastering safe boat handling, skippering and crewing skills, team racing as well as sportsmanship in a variety of weather conditions. Additionally, sailors learn to engage in friendly competitions with their peers from the surrounding communities. The Sailing Club meets monthly during the Fall and Winter and beginning April 1 (weather dependent) the Club meets daily at Hull Yacht Club for practice. Additionally, NHS / NDA Sailing Team competes in the Massachusetts Bay League Championships at Community Boating in May. Sailors are required to have US Coast Guard approved PFD's (life jacket) and a one-piece dry suit with non-slip sailing boots).Advisor: Julie Gordon, julie.gordon@norwellschools.org
