    Welcome to Kindergarten

    Welcome to Kindergarten!

I hope this note provides you with some needed information for the start of the school year. I’m excited to be your child’s teacher and I’m looking forward to a year of growth, independence, exploration and fun!

SCHOOL HOURS: 8:55-11:30 AM, 12:45-3:20 PM.

COMMUNICATION: The best way to reach me is by email: teresa.keefe@norwellschools.org.  I may also be reached by phone at 781-659-8820, however I will only be able to answer the phone between classes. Notes are also a great way to get a message to me at the start of our school day!

DISMISSAL NOTES: If your child is NOT taking the bus home, if your child is going to be picked up by someone other than yourself, or if there is any change of plan, please send a note stating this OR you will have to contact the office and they will give me your message. I will collect all notes from their tote bags when the children arrive at school each day. Also, your child will be given a bus tag/pickup tag with their dismissal information. Please have your child wear the tag attached to their backpack each day! If your child will attend the YMCA program after school or will be picked up on certain days of the week consistently, I will also include this on their tag.

CLASSROOM NEWS: Weekly updates will be sent and upcoming events/dates will be provided through Schoology. Schoology training will be provided by our district. Details to come.

VOLUNTEERS: In person volunteers are not permitted at this time. I will let you know of some virtual opportunities once our classroom is underway.

SNACKS: Food is not allowed in the classroom at this time. Please make sure your child eats a substantial breakfast (or lunch) before they arrive at school. Please make sure you pack a refillable filled water bottle each day.

BIRTHDAYS: Birthdays are a very special event for your child and will be recognized in our classroom. You may want to (optional) send in a simple, non food treat for sharing. This would have to be sent in a week ahead and handed out directly from the teacher. Please plan ahead and let me know if this is something you would like to do for your child.

Daily Needs: Your child will need a large enough backpack to carry home their take home folder, water bottle and a small towel to sit on outside.  During the day, their coat will be packed in the backpack.  Please make sure their back pack is large enough so that your child can easily remove and pack up the items needed above.  School supplies won’t need to be transported from home to school daily.

OPEN HOUSE:  Please come meet me outside on September 15th to say hello!  I can give you your tote bag, bus tag, and a link to see the classroom so we will be ready to start our year.

I apologize for the length of this letter, but I hope it has helped to answer some questions you may have about the upcoming year. I am looking forward to my 12th year of teaching Kindergarten.  If I did not answer all your questions please feel free to contact me.  I look forward to a happy experience for both you and your child at the Vinal School.

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Terri Keefe
