About Our Program
The purpose of the Norwell Public Schools Pre-Kindergarten program is to provide a structured, language based learning environment for children with special needs in an integrated environment. Teachers, therapists and staff assist each child in meeting his or her individual developmental needs. All children in the program work toward the same overall goals which include development of social skills, self help skills, language skills, readiness skills, and fine & gross motor development.
Curriculum development is based upon the Massachusetts State Curriculum Frameworks, the Early Childhood Advisory Council to the Massachusetts Board of Education Guidelines for Preschool Learning Experiences, as well as the Norwell Public School curriculum guidelines. Curriculum programs such as Handwriting Without Tears and Second Step are utilized. Curriculum tasks and activities are developmentally appropriate and designed for each particular group of children.
