Sora Sign up Instructions
Posted by Jennifer Whitt on 9/26/2019Using Sora At Norwell Middle School
Sora is an app that gives readers access to thousands of audio books and e-books. This app should be downloaded from the self service app on a student’s IPad. This valuable resource is available year round and twenty-four hours a day. The Sora app allows readers to access multiple libraries from one app. Below are instructions to set up and use the Sora app for middle schoolers.
Students can add Norwell Middle School’s digital library to their Sora account:
- Open the app; Select Norwell Town Schools, Norwell Middle School. (It is the option to the far right on the screen, listing 328 Main Street as the address). Clicking the wrong school will interfere with access to the middle school collection.
- Click “Sign in using Norwell Public Schools”
- Students’ login information is as follows:
- Username: full student email address
- Password: 4 digit lunch code.
Students can also add the Norwell Public Library’s digital library to their Sora account.
- Click on the 3 lines in the top right corner of Sora and select "add a library".
- Then search for “Norwell” or "Old Colony" and select Norwell Public Library/ Old Colony Library Network
- This should re-direct you to the Norwell Public Library sign in page.
- Click “sign in” and select "Old Colony Library Patron" from the first drop down menu
- Enter your library card number from the back of an Old Colony library card (with no spaces).
- The pin should be: ocln (unless someone changed it along the way).
Students who are 13+ years old can add a Boston Public Library’s digital library to their Sora account:
- Any resident of MA who is at least 13 years old, can apply for a BPL e-card (e-cards are good for 2 years and BPL will provide you with an ecard number via email)
- To obtain an e-card: Go to Boston Public Library homepage.
- Click “Get or Renew eCard”: change City to Norwell or your hometown.
- Select a PIN for your login
- Open the Sora app and select “Add A Library”
- Search Boston Public Library, select Boston Central Library, add Boston Public Libraries as one of your libraries and login!
Once this set-up is complete, it should not need to be done again. All libraries should appear on the Sora app and students should be able to toggle between libraries with ease.
