    Class: Author Ann Braden will be visiting during Period B class.  Period C class will discuss Ms. Braden's presentation to the school and share out the "Strawberrying" and "Season at the Shore" presentations.  Other time will be devoted to sharing out the  poem chosen for last Thursday's homework.

    Monday, April 1, 2019  Day 2  
     
    Class: Students will begin their work on the Ancient Egypt Project Directions 2019.  We will go over the rubric and the Ancient Egypt Project Daily Checklist that students are responsible for checking off every day.

    H.W:  Be sure you have all your materials to work productively tomorrow in order for your project to be completed for submission on Monday, April 8.  COMPLETE YOUR DAILY CHECKLIST.

    Tuesday, April 2  Day 1  

    Class:  (Mrs. Ferris's class will share out one or two of the "Strawberrying" and "Season at the Shore" presentations.) I will share some of the poems written by former students as part of the poetry unit final project. I will go over the Creative Poetry Instructions 2019 and then we will then begin Assignment 1 - Lyrical poetry 2018.

    H.W.: Finish reading the lyrical poems in Assignment #1 if we didn't complete them in class.  We will be referencing them throughout the unit.  

    Tuesday, April 2   Day 1 

    Class:  Continue with your Egypt/Nubia/Mesopotamia project. Be sure to speak to me if you are feeling confused or need more specific direction.

    Wednesday, April 3  Day 2   Late night help is available today.
     
    Note: The math inventory assessment will take place during periods B and C for all student on the Orange Team. This ELA lesson will be taught during a combined AE today. 
     
    Class:  We'll go over more of your choices for chosen poems from last week.  Students will view and discuss a few videos from the Favorite Poem Project: The SlothMinstrel Man, and Casey at the Bat to better understand that poetry interpretation is often highly personal and may draw in an unintended audience.

    H.W.: Finish watching any video that we did not get to today.

    Thursday, April 4  Day 1
     
    Class:  I will finish going over important points that we may not have finished discussing in yesterday's class.  In school "field trip" to explore the various literary artist galleries.  Students will take at least 4 screen shots of former and present 8th grade students' original poetry that speaks to you in some way.  Choose one of the student poems that you have a screenshot of and complete the STARS response to poetry handout. Aim to be as specific as possible in your explanation.  

    H.W.:  1.  Complete your first original poem from the various lyrical styles discussed in class.  IT IS DUE TOMORROW!
    2.  Complete the remainder of your STARS response to poetry handout. We did not get to view the gallery poem today.
    Thursday, April 4  Day 1

    Friday, April 5  Day 2 Term 3 ends 
     
    Class:  Students first original lyrical poem is due at the beginning of class. Volunteers will share out their poems. We will then move on to discuss Assignment 2 2018 Specific poem forms and styles A.

    Class: Final class for students to work on their project.  All materials need to be cleaned up, presentations neatly stored in the class, and all group members should make sure that everything is all set for submission next Monday.
