• Strategic Reading in 6th Grade:

     

    Homework:

    Students enrolled in Startegc Reading, who are in 6th grade have the following homeowrk assignments each day/ week. Students should be reading a book of their choice for 20-30 mins (15-30 pages) per night. Students should also complete one reading and quiz in the RAZ kids app per week.

     

    Grading policy:

     

    This is a Pass/ Fail course. Students will either recieve a "P" (Pass) if their average is over 60 or "F" (fail) if their average is under 60. All grades are enetered into Aspen on a bi-weekly basis.

    Independent reading is entered as either 100 (complete), 50 (partially complete) or 0 (not done at all). Independent reading homework counts as 25% of students' overall grade. Each RAZ quiz is entered as a seperate homework grade (100- complete, 50- read but did not take quiz, or did not finish quiz, or 0- did not do). The score that students receive from their quizzes is never counted as their homework grade. However, the scores are used to inform our instructional focuses together in class and will be communicated to parents. These quizzes count for another 25% of students' overall grades. In Class Assignments and Effort count for the remaining 50% of students' grades. This can be projects, discussions, or activities that we complete in class. 

     

    Writing Workshop in 7th Grade:

     

    Homework:

    Students enrolled in Writers Workshop, who are in 7th grade have the following homeowrk assignments each day/ week. Students should be reading a book of their choice for 20-30 mins (15-30 pages) per night. Students may also be asked to respond to their reading as needed for homework. In addition, students may be asked to finish their in class work for homework at the teacher's discretion.
