Families should have received an invitation to join ClassTag and received at least two notifications. The e-mail addresses used were the ones on the ASPEN list so if your e-mail address has changed, please let me know! We will be transitioning to Schoology in October.
LexiaWe will be using Lexia in the classroom again this year. Students take a placement test during the first two weeks of school and then begin working independently on their levels. When students pass a level, they will receive a certificate with a list of all the skills learned! Information on how you can logon to Lexia will be sent home on Curriculum Night.

I prefer notes to e-mails (although both are great!) because I am not always able to check my e-mail before dismissal. If your child will not be riding his/her assigned bus to school on a regular basis, please let me know via e-mail before the first day of school. This really helps make the first day run more smoothly!BackpacksPlease send your child to school with a backpack each day. The backpack should be big enough for a large library book. Your child will be bringing home a green "go home" folder each day. Please check this folder every night for notes, homework, and returned papers - there are so many notices and forms to be filled out in the first two weeks! Homework, forms, notices, and notes from home should be placed in the green folder and returned to school each day.LunchThe lunch menu can be found on the Cole School website. Each child has a PIN number and cafeteria account. PIN numbers were sent home at the end of the school year. If you lost your child's number please contact Cindy Loring - her e-mail can be found on the school directory. If your child will be buying lunch or milk on the first day, please practice his/her 4 digit lunch number. Please discuss the menu with your child each day - this helps lessen the confusion during the daily lunch count! I will be accompanying the class through the lunch line for the first few weeks of school until the students are comfortable with the routine!SnackPlease pack 2 small snacks each day for your child. Snacks should be small and easy to open; it is a great help if they are packed separately from the lunch box, in a separate bag or tucked into the outside pocket of a backpack. Many snacks get eaten at lunch by mistake!Outdoor RecessWe have an outdoor recess every day for 30 minutes. Please be sure to dress your child for the weather!BirthdaysBirthdays are celebrated in school with a special crown. Students may choose to send in pencils, stickers, or other non-food items as a special treat.
Volunteers are welcomed in the classroom! To volunteer, all adults must have a current CORI on file with the office and be fingerprinted. Volunteers typically start in October once new rules and routines have been established.
