2019 Welcome Letter
September 12, 2019
On behalf of the Student Services Staff, I am delighted to welcome you back to the new school year. I hope that your families are settling in to a nice school routine. To help better inform our practice we will be sending an anonymous surveys at the end of every month to folks who have participated in IEP meetings that month. This feedback will help us to improve communication and refine our team meeting process. We know that strong communication is key to building relationships and are always happy to hear your suggestions and feedback.
Each year state regulations mandate that you receive a copy of the Parent's Notice of Procedural Safeguards Brochure. Your copy is attached. This brochure has been developed to be a resource to you as you navigate the, at times, confusing world of Special Education. If you need assistance or clarifications please feel free to contact your student's case manager. We also invite you to visit our website at http://www.norwellschools.org/Domain/29 for information relative to our programs.
In the coming week you may receive mail which includes the Massachusetts Parental Notice and One Time Consent to allow the School District to access MassHealth (Medicaid) benefits for reimbursement for services delivered in school. All information concerning your student is strictly confidential and will not affect your child’s benefits or services. This program is supported by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). If your student is eligible to participate in the reimbursement program, please sign the One Time form granting permission to seek this federal claim.
We are currently seeking parents to participate in our Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC). The SEPAC advocates for children with disabilities in our schools. The SEPAC also strives to provide information and support to the parents of children with disabilities. The SEPAC is an autonomous parent organization which collaborates with administrators and educators in our schools and acts in an advisory role relative to special education issues. We invite you to get involved and work with us on building even stronger programs of excellence. Please let us know if you are interested in serving in this role.
Should you have questions or concerns, or if you would prefer to receive a paper copy of this document, please feel free to contact me directly at 781-659-8800 or via email at email@example.com. I feel grateful to have the opportunity to share in your students education.
