| Description of Activity:
What is the learning experience? What will teachers and students do during
the course of the activity? Through what performances or products will
students demonstrate what they know and are able to do? Students will be instructed on how to identify appropriate web sites while researching various topics. They will also have instruction on using various strategies to identify key elements in a research article. The students will be expected to access appropriate educational sites on the web. The students will be assigned, at random, a specific sexually transmitted disease to research. The task is to log onto www.kidshealth.com and utilize various articles within the web site to complete an information log. They will then transfer the information gathered onto a MS Word document. Once the task is completed the student then becomes the expert on this topic and will present their findings to the class. |

included Students will be given an outline to utilize during the research phase of this activity. They will be accessing www.kidshealth.com on the Internet in order to gather information. Students will then transfer the information gathered onto a Word document.

What strategies are recommended regarding logistics, preparation, classroom
management, or other implementation concerns? Students should have a working knowledge of the software being utilized for this lesson, as well as Internet search skills. If this is not the case, then time should be permitted for instruction on the use of this technology. Available resources must be planned for and arranged in advance so that students will be able to use the computer labs in a timely manner in conjunction with the flow of the unit being taught. |
