Learning Activity Title: Writing a Persuasive Letter

Description of Activity: What is the learning experience? What will teachers and students do during the course of the activity? Through what performances or products will students demonstrate what they know and are able to do?

The students will write a persuasive letter and type it according to a standard business letter format. It must have the appropriate heading, inside address, salutation, body, closing, and signature--all which must be formatted correctly using proper tabs, margins, and spacing.

Technology Standards Addressed: This learning activity will allow students to develop proficiency in the following Norwell Public Schools technology standards:

Students will need access to the computer lab and will need to access MS Word software for the typed document.

 

 

Teacher Tips and Notes: What strategies are recommended regarding logistics, preparation, classroom management, or other implementation concerns?

The teacher should provide model letters for students to review that show them the proper outcome. Also, I generally show the students letters that have flaws in the formatting, so they may know what to avoid when typing their persuasive letter.
