What is the learning experience? What will teachers and students do during

students demonstrate what they know and are able to do? After reading and discussing the story, students will create a story web using Inspiration. The web will include the title, author, main characters, setting, problem, and solution. It may also include pictures pertaining to the story.

Teacher Tips and Notes:
What strategies are recommended regarding logistics, preparation, classroom
management, or other implementation concerns? Begin with a picture walk through the story. Discuss key words and phrases that may be unfamiliar regarding characters and setting. Tap prior knowledge and make predictions. Teacher should read aloud first. The second reading could be done as buddy reading, followed by listening to the tape at the listening center. The teacher could then conduct a whole group lesson on story webbing on chart paper. While several children use Inspiration at the computer center to create the story web, others could be visiting the word study center, completing written activities related to Strega Nona and reading other books by this author. |
