Dear Parents,

I am writing this correspondence in order to inform you that, as a part of our move, the South Shore Educational Collaborative will be utilizing two classrooms at the new middle school facility when classes resume after holiday break. These two self-contained classrooms are slated to house the South Shore Educational Collaborative Mini-School. The Mini-School is a program for students with language and learning disorders. Many of these students have been diagnosed with autism and pervasive developmental disorder. Eighteen students will be participating in this program and, as I have already stated, will be self-contained in a model similar to "a school within a school" concept. The student teacher ratio is approximately 9:1 with faculty and staff for the mini-school being provided by the South Shore Educational Collaborative. Areas of instruction include: speech, language, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, health and hygiene, arts, and crafts, music and social skills. We strongly support the concept of the Mini-School Program and look forward to working with the students and the Collaborative in this very unique and worthwhile program.

As always if you have any questions and/or concerns, please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience

Sincerely,

Rudy Borgueta
