Each
year, an increasing number of schools have application deadlines early
in the year, before the end of the second grading term. Some of these
are early action/early decision deadlines. Others are regular deadlines.
Many
of these schools request that midyear grades be forwarded to them
when they are available. Sometimes, schools also have Midyear Report
Forms for counselors to send along with midyear grades. While several
schools do request midyear grades, many do not. Some students prefer
that we do not send midyear grades to schools that do not require
them, while some students do want their midyear grades sent to schools
that do not ask for them. Therefore, guidance
counselors will only send midyear grades when requested by students.
Students
should inform their counselor before the end
of the second term about which schools should receive midyear
grades. Students should also provide any necessary Midyear Report
Forms.
