Exploration & Preparation Checklist:
1.
Sign up for PSAT's in October of Junior year.
2.
Consult with you counselor to understand what your scores mean, how
to use them, and how to prepare for the SAT's.
3.
Begin a self-evaluation to determine which
qualities and characteristics may be important to you
4.
Utilize college mini-fairs to begin gathering information.
5.
Use the following resources:
a.
Computerized career and college searches such as MyRoad, an online
service to which NHS subscribes, as well as other online
college searches and online career searches.
b.
Resource materials such as The College Handbook, available in the
library.
6.
Make a list of possible fields of study.
7.
See your counselor as often as necessary to clarify your goals.
8.
Contact colleges for viewbooks, catalogs, and application materials.
9.
Organize your list by category, i.e. reach, target, likely.
10.
Plan to visit colleges.
11.
Discuss financial aspects of college with your
parents.
12.
Sign up for the SAT I and SAT II Subject Tests
in the Spring.
13.
Complete an activity/brag sheet.
