Definitions :
ACT
-
The American College Testing Program, used widely in the Midwest in
place of the SAT. See your counselor for more information about ACT
testing.
AP
Exams -
Advanced Placements Tests. These three-hour examinations are based on
a full-year college level course pursued in high school. Used for college
credit and placement.
CEEB
-
"College Entrance Examination Board" AKA College Boards
CEEB
Code -
Identifies a school. Norwell's code is 221675.
Early
Action -
A non-binding early notification.
Early
Admissions -
A college policy in which a student may enter college after successful
completion of three years of high school.
Early
Decision -
A type of college application in which you apply early and are notified
of the college's decision early. IF accepted under this plan, you no
longer have the option to consider other colleges and must withdraw
all other applications.
PSAT/NMSQT
-
Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. It has the
same format as the SAT. It is useful as a practice test and as an indicator
of SAT scores. It is also used nationally to qualify for merit scholarships
(Juniors only).
Rolling
Admissions -
A type of college admissions procedure in which you are notified of
an admission decision as soon as the decision is made. Most colleges
that use rolling admissions require that midyear grades be submitted
before they will consider an application.
SAT

A three hour test which measures verbal and mathematical reasoning skills.

II -
One hour exams offered in a variety of subject areas which measure knowledge
of a particular subject and the ability to apply that knowledge.
