College Application Process

The Student's Role:

1. Student Obtains application forms.

2. Student asks teacher to write recommendation and provides teacher with recommendation form (if necessary), deadline dates, and stamped, addressed envelope. Teacher recommendations are generally confidential.

3. Student completes application form, including any essays required or recommended.

4. Student arranges for SAT scores to be sent to colleges.

5. Student contacts college to schedule interview, if necessary.

6. Student makes appointment with counselor to ask any questions about application and to discuss counselor recommendation. Student brings school report form, midyear report form (if necessary), and postage (4 stamps per application).

7. Student compiles and mails completed application.

8. Student obtains Financial Aid materials as needed. Student or parent may wish to contact financial aid offices at individual colleges for additional information.
