Course: Spanish III Honors / College Prep
Student work will focus on the following NHS student
expectations for learning: (expectations apply to both
Honors and College Prep levels)

Extra credit points may be earned for linking the
classroom with the Spanish speaking world; such as
bringing in current news, actual artifacts and/or the
lyrics of songs in Spanish and telling the class their
significance
- Make
up work will be completed within three (3) days of return
to school unless special arrangements are made
- with
the teacher

Failure to make up work within prescribed time allotment
will result in zero credit
Grading system:
Each
homework assignment, project, test, quiz, vignette, oral
presentation and classroom participation and preparedness
has a point value assigned to it
Grade
will be based on the total points accrued from daily
assignments, projects, tests, quizzes, class participation
and preparation

STUDENT WORK WILL FOCUS UPON THE

COURSE

Listen to and understand cultural, vocabulary and grammatical
presentations in Spanish

a number of short compositions, lengthier essays, poems and
vignettes based on cultural themes, thematic vocabulary and
readings done in class

Prepare group projects or individual as per assigned by the
teacher
- Read
authentic texts in Spanish including, but not limited to, news
articles, poetry, short stories and fragments from Hispanic
novels

Review and improve upon grammatical structures and vocabulary
from previous years’ study of Spanish

Students will have homework done in an orderly and assigned
manner.

Homework will be checked on a daily basis
- Major
projects will be assigned at different times of the school
year to be completed individually or collaboratively and will
be expected to be completed on the assigned date
- Make
up work will be completed within three (3) days of return to
school unless special arrangements are made with the teacher
directly

Failure to make up work with prescribed time allotment will
result in failing grade for test or quiz and no credit for
incomplete or unrecorded homework
GRADING
SYSTEM:
Each
homework assignment, project, test, quiz, vignette, oral
presentation and daily classroom behavior, participation and
preparedness has a point value associated with it.
Grade
will be based on the total points accrued from daily
assignments, projects, tests, quizzes, classroom participation
and behavior.
