Student work will focus on the following NHS student expectations for learning:

  1. Reflective Problem Solvers
  2. Adaptable Learners
  3. Effective Listeners

Course expectations:

1.      Be prepared for class every day: book, pencil, graphing calculator, and homework.

2.      Participate in class

3.      Do a thorough job on projects

Course skills/ concepts:  Problem solving and critical thinking (see student expectations for learning above)

3.      Permutations and combinations

4.      Matrices

5.      Linear and non-linear systems

Text and requirements/ materials:

1.        Text:  Advanced Algebra   Prentice Hall

2.        TI-83 Plus graphing calculator

3.        3 ring notebook

Homework policy/ major projects:

1.      Homework is a required part of the course

2.      At least one project per term (these can change each year)

Grading system:

A student’s grade is calculated by the following formula:  total number of points earned divided by the total number of possible points.  Grades are posted after every quiz, test, or project.
