Course:  Algebra II – CP1

 

Student work will focus on the following NHS student expectations for learning:

 

  • Adaptable and Self-Directed Learners
  • Reflective Problem Solvers
  • Effective Writers
  • Effective Listeners

 

 

Course Expectations:

 

  • Students are expected to be prepared for every class.  Students must bring textbook, 3-ring binder, graphing calculator, completed homework assignment, and a pen or pencil to every class.
  • Students are expected to strive for excellence.  Each student must put forth the best effort every day and on every assignment.
  • Students are expected to participate in class and ask questions when they are struggling.  Students are expected to take notes, ask questions, and stay focused during class.
  • Students are expected to complete all assignments and make up missed work in a timely fashion.

Homework Policy/ Major Projects:

  • Checked most days – occasionally collected.
  • Each HW is worth 2 points.
  • Absence – HW must be made up and shown to your teacher the day of your return.
  • Homework can not be made up for credit!!!!
  • If every problem is not attempted on the homework, full credit will not be given.
  • HW must be neat, done on appropriate paper, and all work shown or it will not be accepted.
  • Poor quality or partially done HW will result in a loss of 1 or 2 points (no credit will be given for homework that is less than half done). 

 

  • There are a number of graded projects (usually 1 per chapter).
  • Projects can usually be done with a partner, but there are some projects that must be completed individually.

 

Grading system:

 

  • All graded assignments will have an assigned point value.
  • Your grade will be comprised from homework, tests, quizzes, projects, and cumulative reviews.

 Extra Help:

 

  • Ask questions right away!!  Come review material!!  Do homework!!  Study for a quiz or test!!
  • My official “late night” is Thursday, but I am available most days before or after school.  If you would like to come on a different day, please see me in advance so I can plan accordingly (especially if you want to come in the morning.
