Students are encouraged to ask questions on the work they attempted and there is help available most days after school.

Course skills/ concepts:

  • Problem solving
  • Critical thinking
  • Eliminating careless algebra errors

Major units:

  • Trigonometric functions
  • Analytic trigonometry
  • Applications of Trig Functions
  • Polar Coordinates and Vectors
  • Sequences, Series and Induction
  • Probability
  • Statistics
  • Intro to Calculus

Text and requirements/ materials:

Advanced Mathematical Concepts    Glencoe

TI 83+ graphing calculator

Notebook

Homework policy/ major projects:

Honors Trig is a demanding college preparatory math course and requires completion of nightly assignments in order for success. Although homework will not be checked on a daily basis it will be discussed in class each day. Because each lesson builds on the previous one if a student falls behind in this class, it is difficult to catch up. Textbook is online at www.glencoe.com/sec/math/ose/index.html ,user name is AMC06 and the students have been given an access code

Grading system:

Students will be taking tests and quizzes throughout the course. The grade is based on accumulated points divided by total possible points. Class participation is factored in when a student is near a grade upgrade.
